Thats right; you can watch your favorite movies while working on your tan this summer. You already take your iPod with you to the beach to listen to music; now you can use your MP3 to watch movies as well. Theres no better way to pass the time than to relax and watch your favorite flicks. Thanks to the iPod, you can watch them everywhere and anywhere. You wont even disturb the people right next to you, because you will be listening to the sound through your ear buds. iPods not only supply us with portable music, now they can provide us with movies to watch as well. If you can download Shrek or the Little Mermaid for the kids to watch, you can guarantee theyll be occupied and you will get some peace and quiet so you can concentrate on driving. Next, if you have determined your iPod can receive movies, youll want to hook it up to the USB port on your computer. (Dont worry; the USB is clearly labeled and easy to access in almost every computer.) At the present time (though technology may change down the road), iPods can only play video files/movies which are saved in MP4 format. Most of the video and movie files are currently in MPEG, MPG or AVI format (and others), which are not iPod compatible. That is not a huge obstacle; however, because you can simply and quickly convert those files into MP4 so you can watch movies on your iPod. The majority of video and movie files are not currently in MP4 format; rather youll find them as MPEG MPG, AVI files (and the like) which are not iPod-compatible. This will not prohibit you from being able to watch them on your MP3 player, but first you will have to convert the files into the MP4 format and it is pretty easy to do, really. You simply need a converter software program most can convert any video file (like those mentioned above) into an MP4 iPod compatible format. You can find many software programs online which will allow you to convert your files and then download the movies to your iPod. In most cases, the technology is so good that you will lose little or no video quality during the conversion process. There are many programs out there for your consideration, here are a few that come highly recommended: iTunes 7.0, MP3 Rocket and iPod blender to name just a few. If you have DSL or high-speed cable, the process will be faster than if you rely on dial-up services. No matter what type of connection you have, the process is pretty quick and simple. Once you have converted your video files from your personal computer to the MP4 format they can be downloaded to your iPod. And, thats it, youre done; you can now watch movies on your iPod whenever you want to.
