Get Healthy Hair without Spending a Fortune

By: Phoenix Delray

Healthy hair is something that everyone wants these days, but many people think that to have healthy hair they have to invest in products, tools, and treatments that will run them hundreds of dollars. There are tons of products that claim to instantly give you beautiful, healthy hair, and it is hard to sort the ones that really do help from the ones that just coat the hair with wax. People spend millions of dollars a year trying to attain healthy hair, and many of those dollars are spent not only at the salons, but also at home with treatments and products.

Most hair products that claim to give you healthy hair have indeed been tested by professionals and experts and do help your hair to a degree. Different healthy hair formulas have different results for different types of hair, so the best way to find out which healthy hair products are good for you is to do some research, then from there your best bet is through the good old trial and error method for that healthy hair that you are looking for.

Aside from finding the right shampoos, conditioners, and treatments for healthy hair, there are some things that you can do for healthy hair that wont cost you anything extra. A good tip that few people know about is that for healthy hair, if you brush your hair before you wash it, you will break up the dirt and residue that is sitting on the hair, and this will allow you to get more of it out. Many people wash their hair every day, which is actually very damaging to the hair. Washing your hair every day is counter productive to having healthy hair because it washes away the natural oils that your hair needs to stay moisturized and healthy. Every other day is about how often most experts recommend, at most.

When you are washing your hair, do not use your fingernails to scrub your scalp. Not only can this lead to flakes, which is not what healthy hair appears as, but it can also increase the amount of oils that are released into your hair, making your healthy hair actually look greasy. Use your fingertips to improve circulation to your hair follicles, but not your fingernails.

For really healthy hair, let your hair dry naturally after washing, whenever possible. Moisture stays locked in the hair, but heat used from hairdryers and products can dry out the oils and burn your hair, which obviously is not what healthy hair should do. If you do need to blow dry your healthy hair, use a cool setting, or one that is not hot. When you brush your hair, never brush it when it is wet, because this is when even healthy hair is very fragile.
