There are always many decisions to make when getting tattoos but there may be even more decisions to make when getting tribal tattoos. Of course, some of the decisions will be the same as they are with any other body art. For example, you'll have to decide where on the body you plan to place the tattoo and approximately what size it is going to be. However, there are some decisions about tribal tattoos that differ from the decisions made for other creations. Whether to get an abstract design or a tribal shape is one of these decisions. Another is where the tribal tattoo should derive from. And a final one is how to explain the final creation to other people when they ask about it. The first decisions that you are going to make about tribal tattoos are going to be the easy ones. They are the decisions that you would make before getting any tattoo no matter what the image would be. The first decision is whether or not to get a tattoo in the first place which you'll decide based on cost, fear of pain, commitment to the idea, etc. The other decisions that you will make at this time will include where you want to get the body art placed and what size you want it to be. It is important when making these decisions to factor in how easily you want to be able to cover up the tattoo for work and other reasons. After you have committed to the fact that you want to get inked, you'll need to start thinking about things that are specific to these types of tattoos. One decision that you'll need to make early on is whether you want to look at tribal tattoos that are abstract in their design or if you are more interested in getting something that has a specific shape. Tribal hearts and suns are two examples of common shapes that can be drawn using a basic design of this nature. If there are symbols that are of great importance to you (such as the heart or sun) then you will want to think about getting a symbol-based work of art. If you're more interested in an arm band or anklet then you may want to look at abstract designs. Another thing that you're going to need to take into consideration is what the background of the tattoo is going to be. Are you choosing this design because you simply like the look of it? Or are you interested in expressing your heritage or your spiritual beliefs? If there is going to be significant meaning behind your artwork then you are going to want to research the religious and cultural significance of different designs before you decide on a final one. Once you have figured out which of the tribal tattoos you are interested in getting and where on your body you are going to get it placed, there is still yet another major decision to make. You need to decide what it is that you want to say when people ask you about the meaning of your body art. Inevitably, people are going to ask you about it, so hopefully you will have done your research on the specific design you've chosen. They will want to know why you got it and what it means to you. If you have carefully thought through all of the other decisions about tribal tattoos up to this point, finding an answer to give them should be relatively easy.
