Chairs for Good Office Seating

For any office, a chair is one important fixture that you cannot do without. Aside from the comfort that it should provide, the right office seating can make or break your job performance. So to have maximum output, whether from yourself or from your employees consider these points:
1. Choose the appropriate office chair in your office. The right office chair allows for office seating movement anytime as you work. In order to achieve this, consider using a chair that has castor wheels, usually 5 sets that would allow effortless gliding when needed. It should swivel smoothly and is well padded. Ergonomic chairs are good to prevent back pains due to prolonged sitting because these chair’s seat-tilt is adjustable as well as a lower back or lumbar support, and a posture-shaped backrest.
2. The right office chair is not enough to prevent back pains. Seating comfortable involves using your chair properly and sitting properly. Do not slouch, sit and rest your back on the back rest comfortably. Maintain the contact of your back and the back rest to prevent you from leaning towards your computer. Here are some office seating suggestions while you work:
- Adjust the height of the seat to make your thighs at 90 degrees angle with the lower legs while resting your feet on a foot rest or the floor.
- Use the padded from portion of your seat to prevent the chair to dig the back of the knees.
- The contoured backrest of your chair should fit the curves of the back.
- While working, change the chair’s function allowing for alternate upright sitting and gentle rocking.

Also, when you plan to buy a chair for your office, you should avoid the 10 most common mistakes often committed by individuals assigned to select and purchase the office chairs:
1. Cool big chairs.

At first glance, big chairs give good impression of an office. However, when purchasing big chairs, you should consider that it should fit the users else it will be a great discomfort to the user. Use only office chairs that fit you or the user.
2. Shell chairs in one-piece impressive.
These chairs may look great however, because the seat and the backrest are made in 1 piece, these are not good for office seating. These are not flexible enough to provide for good posture sitting.
3. Buying cheap chairs.
Common chairs that you find in auctions or stores might sound economical because of its reasonable price. But if you or anyone is going to sit on it for hours in your office, then this is not the right chair for office seating. Most cheap chairs do not have the adjustments necessary for a comfortable and safe office seating. It may even cause injury or harm in the end.
4. Adjustable arms vs. fixed arms.

Bottom line is that the arms are supported and lie comfortable while you are seated. When this is achieved, either with an adjustable arm or fixed arm chair, it does not really matter.
5. Preference on leather chairs

Leather seats presents and elegant office. But there are some disadvantages such as it may make you uncomfortable as you tend to slide down because of its shiny surface. It also cost some amount especially top of the line quality leather and it will cost you some office outfits also because it can make your clothing shiny similar to a polished shoes.
6. Relying on the label.

What the label says on the chair is sometimes only part of the marketing strategy of the manufacturer or the seller. Often, the ergonomic is advertised but this is usually unreliable. Do not believe on the label choose a chair by its functions and features.
7. Big back supports preferred

Some chair manufacturers over do the molded foams to attach unwitting buyers to believe that it is good for the back. But what is really needed is only light molding or shaping on the backrest for comfort and eliminate office seating back pains.
8. High back chairs are important.

High back is not really necessary. As long as your chair supports your back and prevents office seating back pains, then it is appropriate. Support for good posture is what really matters.
9. Adjustable back do not matter

Adjustable backrest provides comfort and support. Height and angle adjustment are needed to for comfortable office seating. So, a chair with an adjustable back really does matter.
10. Inflatable back supports are essential.

Aside from costing quite an amount, inflatable lumbar support are not actually necessary for a comfortable office seating. A well designed chair with the proper adjustments can do the job quite well. But if your budget allows, you might consider a chair with the inflatable back support.
