Sometimes depression can play games on you; sometimes it comes and goes as it pleases and you are never quite sure if it is there or not. Think kind of depression is called bipolar disorder and people who suffer from it may not even know it. Whatever kind of depression you are suffering from, YOU can cure yourself, if you apply your mind positively towards a solution. Depression is a mood, an emotion that we all feel from time to time. It is sadness, but sometimes it is a bit worse. It can be so bad sometimes that you don't feel like you want to be doing a lot of other things. That is when it has started to affect your body. You want to steer clear of such conditions. Depression is an illness that affects everybody. You could be black or white, green or orange; as long as you’ve got feelings, depression is one of them. Now here’s the catch: not everybody is manic or clinical depressive. If you are one of those, you need help, and you need it fast. Talk to friends that truly love and care for you and they will help you out… much more than you can help yourself. Depression manifests in so many ways that they are difficult to track at best. Some forms of the condition though, have symptoms that are milder than what comes with major depression. Major depression is the type where you become suicidal; I'm sure you have heard of that one before. Work to ensure you don't stay depressed for any period of time. It's not healthy one bit. Depression comes slowly and gradually worsens until it becomes a full fledged disease. On the other hand, the depression could erupt out of the blues; suddenly coming upon you within the matter of a few weeks or days. This is admittedly not usual, but you might want to be on the lookout. Depression is an illness that may come on slowly, especially in younger folks. Many are not even aware that it is happening to them. People who are older sometimes expect it, but the younger… they never see it coming. They could have had it for years before they ever get to know it. Lack of energy and that nagging feeling of being worn out all the time is something that is common to people suffering from depression. The flipside of this phenomenon is that you could be all over the place, pointlessly pacing and doing nothing. Hey, it’s depression, and the thing is just nasty. You can’t allow it to take over your life. Depression can begin in any number of ways. Sometimes it's slow at the onset, worsening gradually, and sometimes it hits you suddenly and big time. Always, it causes you to experience serious changes in your feelings and your outlook. Don't ever let negative thoughts get you down. That's the start of depression. I have seen a depressed person attempt to commit suicide before. He was angry with God for striking his brother ill. He wasn’t exactly trying to end it; he was actually going to have a chat with “the Old Man up there,” and reason it out with him. Good thing “the Old Man” wasn’t prepared to give him audience; I still have my brother. But that’s depression at work for you. Most people who commit suicide would surely regret their actions if they could come back and look at the richness that their future held… if they had lived up to that future. Depression comes out of the blues sometimes, despite the fact that things may be going well. Watch out for it if you have suffered from depression before, and don't let it settle in. If the doctor has prescribed a treatment for you, get on with it right away. It might not be critical, but you don't want it to last too long. Bipolar disorder is a derivative of depression. Identical twins likely will have this in common between themselves, more so than you might expect in regular twins who aren’t so alike. This is not exactly about the twin genes; more about the fact that some people often inherit depression from parents. Adoption is a bit of a big deal in the United States of America. However you should know that depression is genetic and your kid could be depressed simply because his dad or mum was like that too. That way you are not too surprised when you begin to see changes in the child. That's what preparation is all about. Ensure you learn all about the parents of the child you want to adopt, before you go ahead to adopt him or her. Hepatitis, being a neurological disease, can result eventually in depression for you. Its close sibling, mononucleosis also acts the same way. Beating them and depression together calls for a great deal of professional intervention. Don’t handle all cases of depression yourself. You might need professional help to steer you away from such depressions. If you got a stroke in the frontal part of your brain, you suddenly become very prone to depression. In addition, some viral infections can also lead you down that road. These mean you need the help of a professional who will know exactly how to handle your case. It's not every form of depression that you can solve yourself. Lots of them certainly need the attention of professionals. Depression could cause you to brood and worry all the time. Bad part? You don’t know what you’re brooding about. And so you would brood and sulk all over the place with no focus, looking for someone to brood with you. And when you do not find anybody to brood with or to, you brood some more. If you are the party that helps a depressed person by brooding with them, it’s just not fair. You are doing him or her a great deal of harm… and yourself too, eventually. Negative thinking is a symptom of depression. It makes you see situations as though they are much worse than they really are. Worse still, your depression could increase in such a state of mind, especially if the stressful situation continues.
