Not all lighting for businesses is or should be utilitarian. There will be a need in your business to cater to the aesthetic tastes of your employees and customers. You will need and should make your office interior and exterior inviting.

This will help to draw in potential customers, and by using commercial decorative lighting you also have the added benefit of security that outside lighting can bring to your businesses property. Determining the best choices for commercial decorative lighting needs to be done by, or with the help of, an experienced lighting manufacturer representative.

This means that if you are unsure as to what needs to be done, or what products to select, you need to find an illumination expert that will offer their advice to help guide you in creating your decorative lighting displays.

When most people think about decorative commercial lighting what immediately comes to mind are wall scones and decorative light poles. Both of these are prime examples and comprise several of lighting options.

Wall scones need to be attached to the side of your building, with easy access to the wiring in the walls. Most often, these are set on either side of the front door. In many cases, decorative wall lanterns can be found in ready to install kits, with everything that you need for installation.

Light poles are a different story, and they will require much more planning in order to execute their placement and wiring, correctly. For commercial decorative lighting light poles, you have to first decide which type of pole you want.

Then you need to determine how you can mount the pole. There are three main mounting methods for light poles. The manner in which you plant the pole will dictate the height of the pole.

One of the methods is embedment. This is where the light pole is sunk into a gravel-lined hole in the ground. It will require 10% of the height you want the light to be above ground plus an additional two feet of length.

This formula for selecting street lights will ensure that your light does not end up being too low after you have mounted the pole in place. The other two mounting methods are much more involved, requiring the use of anchor bolts, poured concrete and lighting pole hardware.

They are socket and baseplate mounting. Socket mounting, however, will allow you to have your pole at ground level.

For your decorative commercial lighting selection you will want the ambiance emanated through your business, but you do not want the high electric bills. There are various options to control this.

One of the easiest will be to tie your lighting into a timer or light sensor. This will ensure that your lights will only come on when they are needed, at night. Another way to save money on your commercial decorative lighting is to use low voltage lights in them.

Most decorative lighting is designed for use with low voltage lighting, anyway. There are several advantages to this. The first is that it will require less energy to light your lights, thus lowering their operating costs.

Low voltage lights are also safe enough for even a lay person to install by himself if he follows the proper procedures. There are several options for low voltage lighting. These include: halogens lights, incandescents, fluorescents, and HID lamps such as mercury vapor, high pressure sodium, or metal halide.

Choosing and installing commercial decorative, chandeliers, sign lighting or parking lot lighting is not difficult, but if you need advice, tips or guidance, turn to an illumination expert first, for the knowledge you need.
